Our history is a combination of an established appraisal firm started in 1997 and long-established firm from the 1930s.
Susan D. Baldwin, MAI, AI-GRS, after nine years with The Peatfield Company, Ltd., started her own business and became partners with John Mako, MAI of Summit Associates. In 2007, she established Armory Square Valuation Services, Inc., which was renamed to CNY Appraisers, Inc. upon moving her business to Manlius, New York. In 2016, CNY Appraisers Inc. merged with Pomeroy Appraisal Associates to form CNY Pomeroy Appraisers Inc. The firm has 10 appraisers, and 2 assistants. Ms. Baldwin holds both the MAI designation and the AI-GRS review designation from the Appraisal Institute.
Donald T. Pomeroy founded Pomeroy Organization, Inc. in 1930 along with six partners. From 1930 until the mid-1950s, the Pomeroy Organization acted as a full-service brokerage and management company. In 1957, Don Pomeroy founded a new department known as Pomeroy Securities, Inc., which specialized in valuation services. In 1964, as part of a deal with Marine Midland Bank, Don Pomeroy created Pomeroy Appraisal Associates. Donald A. Fisher began working as an appraiser with Pomeroy Appraisal Associates, Inc. in the early 1970s. During the following three decades, the business greatly expanded its areas of expertise to include railroad valuation, native American land claims and conservation easements. In 1994, Donald A. Fisher became president and sole owner of Pomeroy Appraisal Inc. In 2005, Donald A. Fisher became President and sole owner of Pomeroy Appraisal Associates, Inc.
In December of 2015, Pomeroy Appraisal Associates, Inc. was closed and members of the firm were acquired by CNY Appraisers, Inc. On January 1, 2016, the new name of CNY Pomeroy Appraisers, Inc. was established.
CNY Pomeroy Appraisers, Inc. specializes in all aspects of real estate appraising to include financing, litigation, easements, estate planning, condemnation, etc. in the Upstate New York market.
